Most inks adopted in the printing industry are traditional solvent-based inks, generally composed of pigments, binders, solvents, fillers and additives. The main gaseous pollutant released by inks is Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs, mainly including isopropanol, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, alcohols, acrylic acid, heavy metal silver ions). VOCs are organic compounds that can react with nitrogen oxides in the ozone layer under sunlight.
